The Howard County Court Calendar
Howard Circuit Court's official page links a "Search Court Dates" service. It describes the calendar as a public-service view built from official court minutes. Indiana Administrative Rule 9 also requires trial courts to publish daily calendars or dockets. Access limits still apply. The public view can list a case number, public caption, date, time, and location. Still, it is narrower than the full chronological case summary.
Howard County runs a Circuit Court plus Superior Courts I through IV. Each case belongs to its assigned court. That means every date should be read alongside the court identifier. There is no single countywide trial list. The calendar can include conferences, motion hearings, initial hearings, pretrials, trials, and other settings. The responsible court enters each of them.
Howard County Calendar Disclaimer
Howard Circuit's date-search notice calls the calendar a convenience drawn from official minutes. Pleadings may not be entered yet. Confidential juvenile and paternity matters are excluded entirely, so a blank result does not prove that no hearing exists. Verify details with the attorney or court.
A public Howard County court calendar entry is a scheduling aid. The latest court order and direct confirmation control when the public display lags.
No date showing? Search the CCS by case number and read the newest entries. If the matter is restricted or a recent filing has not posted, ask the assigned court or the Clerk rather than widening the search with private details.
How to Find Your Court Date
Begin at Indiana MyCase or the Search Court Dates route linked by Howard Circuit. A case number is the most precise key. A name works when the number is unknown. Common names need a court, status, or filing-date filter. Open the matching case. Read the newest setting entry, not just the first date shown.
- Search by the full Howard County case number when available.
- For a name search, narrow by Howard court and initial filing date.
- Open the public case and locate the newest hearing or setting entry.
- Write down the court, date, time, room, hearing type, and status.
- Confirm the setting with the Clerk, assigned court, or attorney before appearing.
Each channel plays a part. MyCase and the online calendar give remote access. The Howard County Clerk answers at 765-456-2000 and staffs a counter at 104 N. Buckeye Street, Room 202, Kokomo. A courthouse public terminal or posted docket can help during regular hours. An attorney can confirm case-specific obligations. Odyssey text reminders add a prompt, but they never replace the official setting.
Howard County Calendar Court Codes
Every Howard case number opens with a county and court identifier. 34C01 points to Circuit Court. Meanwhile, 34D01 through 34D04 identify Superior Courts I through IV. The archived 34E01 County Court is not a current venue. The Indiana Odyssey courts list confirms all five active Howard County courts in the system.
That identifier helps a reader separate similar settings and call the right court office. The rest of the number matters too. The next group records the filing year and month. Then comes the case-type code and sequence. Match all four groups before treating a calendar result as the intended Howard County case.
Reading a Court Setting
Read each Howard County court setting as a set of fields. A date alone, without its court and hearing type, can mislead. A "pretrial" is not the trial itself. A "motion hearing" concerns a request before the court. A second setting or continued entry may supersede an earlier date, so review the CCS entries around the calendar line to find the latest court action.
| Date | The scheduled calendar day, subject to a later order or reset. |
|---|---|
| Time | The listed start or docket-call time, not an estimate of when the matter ends. |
| Courtroom | The current room or location; verify before traveling. |
| Judicial officer | The judge, magistrate, or referee assigned where the public record states one. |
| Setting type | Pretrial, motion hearing, initial hearing, conference, bench trial, jury trial, or another event. |
| Status | Scheduled, reset, continued, cancelled, or disposed where shown. |
Howard County Calendar Under Rule 9
Indiana Administrative Rule 9 sets the rules for daily calendars in Howard County, covering what each entry must list, remote access, courthouse terminals, and compiled requests. Barring an exclusion, a Howard County daily docket shows the case number, the public caption, and the date, time, and location of the hearing.
The rule sets the baseline fields. It does not make confidential juvenile, paternity, mental-health, sealed, or otherwise protected settings public.
Rule 9 also separates a routine public search from a compiled or bulk-data request. One person checking a single hearing can use the calendar or public terminal. A request for many calendar rows follows a different state process. It should not be recreated through repeated searches.
- Setting
- A scheduled court event, not necessarily a trial.
- Docket call
- A calendar time when several matters may be called.
- Continuance
- A postponement approved by court action.
- Reset
- A new date entered after an earlier setting changes.
Howard County Calendar Room Checks
The current statewide directory places Circuit in Room 310, Superior II in Room 304, and Superior III in Room 110. All of them sit in the Howard County Courthouse. One local Superior III page has shown Room 216, which is a real reason to verify location. Use the room stated in the newest case notice. If sources differ, call the court.
Circuit lists 765-456-2202. Superior I lists 765-456-2200, Superior II 765-456-2201, Superior III 765-456-2220, and Superior IV 765-456-2900. These lines let you confirm a Howard County calendar entry with the assigned office rather than another division.
Resets, Continuances, and Cancellations
Howard Local Rule LR34-TR53.5-11 governs continuances in Howard County. Any request to move a setting must be written, verified, and state good cause. It must also cover notice: whether the other side objects, or simply could not be reached. Filing that motion changes nothing by itself. The original date stands until the court acts. Watch the CCS for a new order or entry confirming the change.
Read the docket language closely. "Motion filed," "order signed," "hearing set," and "continued" each mean something different. A setting can also disappear for other reasons, such as dismissal, a transfer, an emergency closure, or a separate order. Howard County posts no closure calendar. Call the court before counting on any date touched by weather, a holiday, security limits, or an emergency.
Note: A vanished old setting usually means a replacement date, not a dismissal of the Howard County case.
Howard County Civil Calendar Timeline
A Howard County civil jury case can carry several dates on its way to trial. Local Rule LR34-TR16-14 sets up a pretrial conference plus a Certificate of Readiness process with an objection window, and Local Rule LR34-TR40-15 covers trial settings and notice. That is why one docket may list "pretrial," "readiness," "first setting," "second setting," and "jury trial" side by side.
The sequence can read: complaint and service → pretrial conference → readiness filing → trial setting → trial or later disposition. A mediation or motion hearing may appear between those points. None of those entries guarantees a result. Read the later order or judgment to learn what occurred.
Howard County Calendar Text Reminders
Indiana Odyssey can send hearing reminders by text. Howard County takes part, and the alerts go out five days and one day before a setting. The official reminder page lists 317-316-0810 and 317-286-6725 as possible sender numbers. To enroll, follow the Clerk's identity and sign-up steps.
A reminder lowers the odds of a missed court date. It is no promise the hearing still stands. After any reset request or new order, check MyCase and the Howard County court handling the case.
Keep the case number with the reminder and match it against the CCS. Never send sensitive data in reply to an unexpected text. If the message and the public calendar disagree, call the court named in the case. Do not trust whichever screen looks newer.
What To Do If You Miss a Setting
Act quickly after a missed setting. Search the Howard County CCS for a failure-to-appear entry, an order, a warrant notation, or a new date. Other court action may appear too. Then contact the assigned court, the Howard County Clerk, and, when appropriate, an attorney. Give the case number and the date that was missed. Paying an unrelated balance or leaving a message does not automatically cure the absence.
Write down each call. Note whom you reached, when, and what instructions were given. Keep watching the docket for a signed order or a new setting. Court staff can share record and scheduling facts. They cannot give legal advice on what the missed date means.
Missed a Setting? A missed required hearing can trigger serious court action, including a failure-to-appear entry or warrant in a criminal case.
Call the assigned Howard County court or Clerk at once and ask what public action has been entered.
Seek advice from a licensed attorney about the safest way to address the missed setting.
Howard County Calendar Technology
Indiana Odyssey is the case-management system behind Howard County's MyCase records and calendar data. Howard Circuit and all four Superior Courts moved onto Odyssey in August 2018. Older cases may show converted events or fewer documents. Fresh pleadings may lag before appearing. The Indiana Odyssey overview explains the statewide system and the chronological case summary.
Knowing the system tells you where an online date comes from. The Clerk and the court still give the final word. Howard County offers no countywide remote-hearing link or streaming schedule. Trust a hearing link only when it appears in the current court notice. The court confirming it also works. Federal cases are a separate track. Howard federal matters sit in the Southern District of Indiana, Indianapolis Division.
